„Art of Riga Jazz” workshops will take place in Riga on November 30 and December 1. It will be a unique opportunity to learn from internationally acclaimed musicians – the British pianist Bill Laurance and guitar virtuoso from US Lionel Loueke.
“Grammy Award” winner, modern keyboardist Bill Laurance will share his musical experience on November 30th at 10 AM in Latvian Radio Studio No 1. He is a composer, arranger, producer, as well as an original member of the group “Snarky Puppy”, and the founder of the music production company “Twenty Thousand”, and a lecturer at the Institute of Contemporary Music in London. He has released three albums, one of which – “Flint” – has taken the first position in “iTunes Jazz Charts”. Laurance has been nominated for the „Best Jazz Act” at the „MOBO Awards” this year.
The second “Art of Riga Jazz” guest, who will run his workshop in Latvian Radio Studio No 1on December 1st at 10 AM, is the innovative guitarist Lionel Loueke. His special sound comes from West African roots, the influence of which can be heard in the unique playing, vocals, and phrasing. Loueke is famous for the fusion of traditional African music and modern jazz harmonies. He uses difficult rhythms and a percussive guitar playing technique.
Musicians of all levels – from beginners to professionals – are invited to apply for “Art of Riga Jazz” workshops. It will be an opportunity to understand the unique “voice” and style of experienced teachers, get advice about playing technique, ask questions, find out the secrets of musicians and gain some inspiration.
Price for two workshops – 20 Eur, for one workshop – 15 Eur.
