On behalf of Asian Improv aRts, I invite you to join us in celebration of 25 years of work to produce, present, and document artistic works that represent the Asian American experience. As it was one of Jon Jang’s ensembles that launched the Asian Improv journey over two nights in August 1987, Jon will lead the way into our 25th season with his ensemble Unbound Chinatown in our special celebration and concert on October 28, 2012 at Yoshi’s SF from 7 pm - 9:30 pm. It is also fitting that for this occasion Jon will re-mount one of the works that was performed at our inaugural concerts: Reparations Now!, which paid tribute to the movement for redress/reparations for Japanese Americans incarcerated in World War II concentration camps. Also planned for the evening will be a short program highlighting our achievements and an awards ceremony in which we will honor composer/instrumentalist Wayne Wallace, Kularts Artistic and Executive Director Alleluia Panis, and Lucy Lin, interim director of the Cultural Equity Grants of the San Francisco Arts Commission. We wish to use the opportunity of our 25th year celebration to thank these individuals not only for what they have done for us, but for what they stand for in our community. Please join us for this special evening!
