who we are
Adastra was set up by Chris Wade in 1987 when it was based in a spare room in Chris' house. Since then it has moved twice into larger premises and now is set in a converted stable block in the beautiful grounds of a country house in the village of North Dalton, East Yorkshire, in the North of England. The agency feels privileged to work in the beautiful location that it is based in and yet have easy access to the rest of the World. Over the years it has become one of the leading agencies in the UK working with British and overseas artists performing Folk, Roots, Acoustic and World Music, in the UK and overseas. It has, during its history, specialised in European and Celtic music ? the latter still plays a major part of its roster. It has gained a reputation for the quality of its artists and the quality of the service it provides to both artists and promoters. Today the agency consists of 3 agents and 3 administrative staff.
what we do
The agency organises tours and one off concerts for its artists, both in the British Isles and overseas. For these artists and for the promoters and venues that it works with it aims to provide the best possible service. Adastra is able to arrange travel and accommodation where necessary as well as supplying publicity needs and other requirements.
Adastra has a great deal of experience in obtaining work permits, dealing with overseas tax, arranging overseas travel for artists, and the myriad other things that need to be dealt with in order to make a successful tour.
As well as the main work it undertakes, Adastra often sets up projects for other occasions eg: Educational workshops; touring schemes (Nu-Routes); and is involved in the Beverley & East Riding Folk Festival held in June each year. We are also able to undertake Programming & Consultancy work.
