Denmark’s largest talent competition for young jazz musicians will again hit the Danish jazz venues in 2013. 12 bands, 4 quarterfinals, scattered across Denmark.
After having entered its teens the 14th edition of the Ung Jazz competition will once again offer a lot of interesting music from the Danish jazz youth. Again this year a number of aspiring musicians will compete for a place in the final, which takes place on 3th of May at Jazzhouse in Copenhagen. The 4 quarterfinals will take place in Esbjerg, Aalborg, Svendborg and Roskilde.
Desert jazz and energetic grooves
The 12 participating bands are stylistically spanning widely across the jazz genre, so there will be plenty of opportunity to get around the many corners of todays jazz. Experience everything from rocking jazz with ambient elements, classic jazz traditions mixed with elements of pop and folk music to desert jazz, avant-garde detours and hip wriggling grooves.
At the website www.ungjazz.dk there is more information about the concerts, the bands, as well as an opportunity to watch a short video introduction (which you can see an example of below) created by the band themselves.
