Aljamia is the first recording of Coreto Porta-Jazz, and was deservedly applauded by the critics shortly after its release in 2012. The music, led by the saxophonist João Pedro Brandão, takes its inspiration from the traditional sounds of the Mediterranean, then put through a jazz 'filter' Eleven new generation musicians from Porto formed Coreto Porta-Jazz, which has emerged from the association of the same name with the aim of creating a 'space' in which to explore and consolidate an original and experimental repertoire.
