Kesselhaus, Kulturbrauerei – Berlin
For its twelfth edition, the Strasbourg-Berlin Jazzdor Festival strengthens the Franco-German axis even more and accentuates the cooperation with the musicians of the Berlin scene: the three musicians of the trio formed by Philippe Lemoine, Andrea Parkins and Yorgos Dimitriadis live in Berlin, while bassoonist Sophie Bernado, heard in particular in the White Desert Orchestra by the pianist Eve Risser lived there for several years. Hans Lüdemann's "TransEuropeExpress" orchestra brings together some of the most exciting jazz musicians from Paris and Berlin. Certain creations initiated in recent years by Jazzdor have become long-term projects, such as quartet qÖÖLp by drummer Christian Lillinger and brothers Valentin and Théo Ceccaldi, or even the duo of Bojan Z and Nils Wogram. The latter will meet in a new quintet around Michel Portal and the young Belgian drummer Lander Gyselinck. This edition will be the opportunity to discover the new Franco-German trio of the trumpet player Airelle Besson and the meeting between the trio of the pianist Pablo Held and the Franco-Brazilian guitarist Nelson Veras. Two projects will be presented as part of the Jazz Migration program of the AJC (Jazzé Croisé association): the Ikui Doki trio whose universe is strongly marked by the music of Claude Debussy and the quartet November. Finally, we will find some well known musicians of the festival, the pianist Roberto Negro and the saxophonists Émile Parisien, François Corneloup or Robin Fincker, the latter to revisit with the band Bedmakers the British folk music. For several years, the Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin festival has been established as an expected moment for jazz fans in the German capital, but also as an important professional platform for discoveries and exchanges in Europe. Programmers from Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Finland and Germany will come to discover young bands like November, What If, Ikui Doki or Bedmakers. This year again, all will be registered by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Jazzdor's historical partner in Germany.
