ELBJAZZ 2019 had 30.000 people visiting in total, enjoying more than 50 concerts on 8 different stages with perfect sunny festival weather.
The festival opened with a reception at the Elbphilharmonie and also included special events like the “Hamburg Jazz Award” (that was presented to bass player Lisa Wulff), as well as workshops (“jazz instruments for kids”, “a vocal journey” singing workshop with Andreas Schaerer, “saxophone for beginners”) and aftershow parties.
Jamie Cullum headlined the festival (what an entertainer!), artist in residence Julia Hülsmann presented three completely different concerts throughout the festival, bands like Mildlife, Kaiit, Butcher Brown, Benny Sings and J.P. Bimeni played their very first Germany shows and legend Benny Golson left everyone deeply impressed with his concert at the Elbphilharmonie.
Our “aftermovie” will give you an impression of this year’s festival: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HibSJXc23RQ
The 10th edition of ELBJAZZ will take place next year on 5th & 6th June 2020.
Bookings start in September – we are always interested in exchanging ideas with other festivals in that time period!
