Cankarjev dom, Jazz Festival Ljubljana producer, takes great pleasure in announcing the first two names of this year’s edition that will take place between 17 and 20 June in Cankarjev dom’s halls and Club and the adjacent park (Council of Europe Park). The 61st festival will again feature a varied selection of both national and international musicians. Concerts in the park are admission free.
Making his Ljubljana Jazz Festival debut, Anouar Brahem, Tunisian oud (Arabic lute) grandmaster and one of ECM Records’ most distinguished artists, will present The Astounding Eyes Of Rita – his finest work, according to numerous experts, released on ECM Records in 2009. The Anouar Brahem Quartet will perform in Gallus Hall on Wednesday, 17 June, at 20.00.
Avishai Cohen is returning to our festival after a period of eleven years. This bass virtuoso and great composer will dedicate 2020 to 50:50:50 – a project celebrating his 50th birthday with 50 concerts in 50 countries across the world. Slovenia features on the list of these select locations and will experience 50:50:50 in Gallus Hall on Saturday, 20 June, at 19.30. With his new band, formed especially for this project, Avishai Cohen will soon release a new album.
* Tickets for both concerts are now available at EUR 24, 28, 15* – presale until 10 June, regular sale EUR 32, 27, 18*. A limited number of festival passes is available admitting entrance to all events in Gallus, Linhart and Štih Halls, as well as the CD Club. The price of the festival pass (limited availability) is EUR 61.
