All this will be part of the 1st Seifert Jazz Days (SJD), held to mark Zbigniew Seifert's 75th birth anniversary.
The first night of the Seifert Jazz Days opens with a performance by a 2018 Seifert Competition finalist, violinist Marcin Hałat, with his original project, the acoustic trio OWL. Directly afterwards the highly regarded band RGG will come on the stage at Lusławice Penderecki Centre to premiere a programme dedicated to and inspired by Seifert’s music.
On the following day, the main star of Seifert Jazz Days is violinist Dawid Lubowicz, co-founder and member of the excellent Atom String Quartet, 3rd prize winner in the 1st Seifert Competition of 2014, who will appear with his quartet, performing new material to be released on his forthcoming album.
Our final evening features EABS, a band that took the Polish jazz scene by storm with its phenomenal 2017 CD Repetitions. Letters to Krzysztof Komeda, dedicated to Komeda’s output. On 23rd July, the ensemble from Wrocław will present a project specially commissioned by the Seifert Jazz Days, consisting of the musicians’ original interpretations of Seifert’s music.
SJD events also include panel discussions devoted to the oeuvres of Zbigniew Seifert and Krzysztof Komeda. 2021 marks not only Seifert’s 75th, but also Komeda’s 90th birthday. Panellists will include Polish and foreign journalists.
