Saxophonist, composer and arranger – and Jazz FM Breakthrough Act of the Year 2022 nominee - Chelsea Carmichael performs at Turner Sims Southampton on Saturday 15 October. One of the rising stars of the vibrant UK jazz scene, she has played with the likes of seed., Theon Cross, and the Outlook Orchestra. She has toured with international heavyweights Terence Blanchard, and Courtney Pine. Tonight Chelsea leads her own quartet playing original music, influenced by her love of groove, intricate rhythms and electronic sounds, from her debut album The River Doesn’t Like Strangers. The album is the first release on Shabaka Hutchings’ newly launched Native Rebel Recordings label.
