Turner Sims Southampton has announced its Autumn 2023 season and it’s full of incredible jazz artists to choose from. Double MOBO Award-winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown brings her fusion of reggae, jazz and soul – and younger audiences can also discover the joy of live music with YolanDa’s Band Jam. Trumpeter Matthew Halsall and his band perform music from their forthcoming album An Ever Changing View. The Bad Plus performs in their new piano-less incarnation, pushing their approach to jazz in boundary-breaking directions. Snarky Puppy originals Bill Laurance and Michael League bring music from the duo album Where You Wish You Were. British singer-songwriter, producer and pianist Reuben James makes a first visit to Turner Sims with his soulful vocals, and audiences can expect jazz and hip-hop infused sounds from exciting drummer Romarna Campbell. Finally, a special treat early in 2024, as Seb Rochford and Kit Downes perform A Short Diary, Seb’s poignant musical response to his father’s death, acoustically ‘in the round’.
