The Bozcaada Jazz Festival, which invites us to form new and strong bonds with ourselves, each other, and the world, is preparing to meet participants for the eighth time. Taking place on September 6-7-8 with the main sponsorship of Paribu, and contributions from Kendine Has, Volkswagen, Jack Lives Here, CarrefourSA, Tchibo, Kale Group, and Jotun, this year's festival is inspired by the multi-layered structure of mycelium, the enchanting network system of nature. In addition to the music program, the Bozcaada Jazz Festival, which interacts with different disciplines and shapes itself around a new theme each year, offers a rich festival experience through the Keşif (Discovery) events. The festival will once again embark on its journey on September 6-7-8, 2024, focusing on the theme of "Mycelium," a natural model of biodiversity, sustainability, and resilience. Participants are invited to explore the power of growing, transforming, and creating together within this framework.
With the contributions of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), the Bozcaada Jazz Festival, organized by 3dots and allaturca, will blend the rhythms of jazz with the spirit of the island from September 6-7-8, highlighting the connections and new pathways jazz opens up in all areas of life.

Festival Impact Report Shared
The Bozcaada Jazz Festival also shared its "Impact Report" with participants at the festival launch, focusing on the impact measurement guide "How To Measure The Impact of Culture, Sports, and Business Events" published by the OECD in 2023. This study, one of the first based on this guide, addresses economic, environmental, and social impacts under separate headings with separate indicators, along with additional analyses of areas where these three headings overlap. The 'other' category in the OECD guide is primarily evaluated under the cultural impact heading in this study.
The Bozcaada Jazz Festival, which has been creating significant economic and social movement on the island since its inception, continues to advocate for gender equality, ecological transformation, and social inclusion through its "Keşif" program, featuring workshops, excursions, networking events, panels, and discussion sessions spread across the island.
A Natural Model of Diversity, Sustainability, and Resilience: "Mycelium"
In its eighth edition, the Bozcaada Jazz Festival invites guests to step into the world of interconnected networks with the theme of "Mycelium." Inspired by the underground networks that transport nutrients and information for ecosystems and are constantly in communication and interaction with their surroundings, the festival explores questions such as "What kind of networks are we members of?", "How do we mutually influence each other with the communities we are part of?", and "How can we better nourish each other, support diversity and resilience in this symbiotic relationship?" The festival invites participants to discover the complex connections of nature and similar structures in our communities.
Since its founding year, the Bozcaada Jazz Festival has brought together artists from different disciplines and experts in their fields. This year, it aims to discuss how diversity and interaction form a stronger whole, pursuing the power of growing, transforming, and creating together. Like mycelium, it aims to form decentralized, flexible, and resilient structures around themes such as the flow of information, the spread of innovative ideas, and cultural exchange.
Jazz Rhythms Mixing with the Excitement of Harvest Have Become an Island Classic
On the first day of the festival, names from Turkey, France, and Germany will take the stage. Singer, songwriter, designer, and multidisciplinary artist Deniz Taşar, who brings a new breath to jazz vocals in Turkey with her unique vocal style and tone, French-Swiss saxophonist Léon Phal, who combines jazz with electronic elements, and German drummer, composer, solo musician, and music educator Anika Nilles / Nevell, who combines jazz, funk, pop, and rock music with her remarkable technique, will meet music lovers.
On the second day of the festival, Turkey's stage will meet the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Making their debut at the Bozcaada Jazz Festival, the Öner Karaçuha Quartet, combining the rich heritage of traditional jazz with modern touches, featuring Oğuz Can Bilgin on trumpet, Çağan Irmak Koç on piano, Mine Yiğitbaşı on bass guitar, and Öner Karaçuha on drums, KLEIN, who will move all festival participants with melodic and electronic music, Bozcaada Ensemble, a festival classic led by Önder Focan, bringing together Alper Yılmaz, Monika Bulanda, Adem Gülşen, Anıl Şallıel, and Barış Doğukan Yazıcı for a special project, and Dutch Kraak & Smaak (Live), who have been exploring the innovative waters of electronic music for the past 20 years and have accumulated many fans in Turkey, will spread their music on the second day of the festival.
On the final day of the Bozcaada Jazz Festival, Danish group Girls in Airports, combining Nordic jazz with indie genres, known for their improvisation-focused work that disregards geographical boundaries and genre lines, Cenk Erdoğan Trio, one of the projects that best fits the island's music, and London-based Alfa Mist, pianist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and producer, who has worked with many renowned artists and blends hip-hop and jazz music, will take the stage. Childplay, who will take over the DJ stage after live music to liven up the dance floor, will be the name to close the festival.
