"...a far reaching orchestra clearly capable of handling anything and everything that's put in front of it." John Kelman, All About Jazz
This was said about the festivals next year’s Artist in Residence, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. The orchestra will have six festival days in Molde, Norway to play a series of concerts.
For the first time, Molde International Jazz Festival has a whole orchestra as artist in Residence instead of a sole jazz artist. Artistic director Ole Morten Vågan says that choosing the orchestra as Artist in Residence is more about choosing a concept and a thought than an artist. This presents Moldejazz with unique possibilities when curating next year’s festival in July 2025.
In 2025, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra celebrates 25 years as one of the most important and creative jazz ensembles in Norway. The orchestra is part of Mid-Norway Centre of Jazz, who initiates and organizes new projects. The orchestra is operated as a musicians' pool, varying its instrumentation and size from project to project, allowing for great breadth in their repertory. Musicians who have been involved in the orchestra are among Norway's most famous jazz profiles.
At Moldejazz 2025, there will be five main concerts, demonstrating the great variety in what they do and how they work. The orchestra’s earlier projects include collaboration with names like Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Joshua Redman.
