Exciting young jazz star Jasmine Myra (in photo) kicks off a new season packed with jazz at Turner Sims in February. The saxophonist, flautist, and composer performs music from her highly anticipated second release 'Rising', following from her acclaimed debut 'Horizons' (both produced by Matthew Halsall).
The month also sees saxophonist Tim Garland and pianist Geoffrey Keezer join forces to present music from their new release ‘MEZZO’. Saxophonist and composer Andy Sheppard, known for his lyrical style and bold creativity, is joined by Italian piano legend Rita Marcotulli and renowned French bassist Michel Benita in March.
April welcomes Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch with his long-running quartet RONIN. They present music from ‘SPIN’, their ninth album – and the first featuring new bassist Jeremias Keller. And for something a bit different, rising Bristol singer-songwriter Lady Nade performs a soulful celebration of Nina Simone's music in March. She is joined by the cream of Bristol's vibrant jazz scene for an evening that honours Nina Simone not just as a musical pioneer, but as a trailblazer who paved the way for Black women in music.
