You have the chance to nominate a project for the 9th EJN Music & Community Award!

The Europe Jazz Network (EJN) in 2018 established an Award for great achievements in the area of Music & Community. The Award is assigned to a particularly outstanding project in the field of social inclusion through creative music, in which people from marginalised communities or groups are able to participate in equal conditions and get involved in creative processes.

EJN is launching a public nomination process for this year's Award, through the form available at this link: https://forms.gle/i97am2xubMhXDYyx9

Please note:
  • You CAN nominate your own organisation/project, OR another project that you are familiar with;
  • You DON'T have to be a EJN member to fill this form;
  • The nominated project DOESN'T have to be an EJN member either, any project is eligible if it meets the criteria outlined below;
  • Previous winners CANNOT receive the award for a second time (see list below).

A jury of EJN members and established professionals in the field will select the winner from the nominations list. The Award winner and its work will be presented to an international community of music professionals during an award ceremony at the European Jazz Conference 2026, disseminated in media releases and feature articles as a best practice, and will be involved in future EJN activities on these themes.

Criteria for nominated projects:
  • To have live music making as a central component, either through workshopslive performancesor other similar activities (i.e. not purely an album release);
  • To enrich people's lives via participation in music/creative activities;
  • To engage with the local communities, overcoming barriers of all kinds (social, economic, creative, etc);
  • To educate and entertain through musical/creative activities;
  • To bring a professional standard to all music & community activities;
  • To be happening now, reasonably well-established, and committed to long-term sustainability.

Please also forward this form to people that could be interested, the more the better. Thank you in advance!

DEADLINE for nominations: Thursday, 30 April 2026.
Previous recipients of the EJN Award for Music & Community are: Sounds of Change (Netherlands, 2025); Taller Obert by Taller de Músics (Spain) and Bunkern Bokar (Sweden) (ex-aequo, 2024); B:Music for 'Generation Ladywood' (UK, 2023); Katowice JazzArt Festival / Miasto Ogrodów (Poland, 2022); JazzDanmark for 'JazzCamp for Girls' (Denmark, 2020); Pasquale Innarella 'Rustica X Band' (Italy, 2019); Banlieues Bleues for their 'actions musicales' (France, 2018).
