The association was founded 40 years ago and has changed shape over the years. The current name Jazz & Beyond was written into the statutes in 2021 and since then the focus has been on innovative jazz & improvisational music as well as on the opportunities and conditions of young musicians.
The association is a non-profit membership association that is founded on association-democratic working procedures and decision-making processes. The association represents a dynamic platform for jazz & improvisational music in a region where chamber music traditionally had and has a strong position. The association receives its largest financial support from the State Cultural Council, but also receives financial funds from its own municipality.
The association actively seeks funds for various projects that are outside the basic operations. We arrange, for example, the Jazzfest, an annual event for Swedish Jazz members, in Örebro in 2025.
