The German-American Institute (DAI) is a cultural institution that not only offers diverse cultural events for the public, but a number of other services as well.
Our Cultural Program provides information and entertainment through lectures, discussions, seminars, exhibitions, concerts, literary readings, films, theater performances and much more.
In our Library you will find an extensive collection of English-language books, magazines, newspapers, videos and DVDs. You can also conduct research with our up-to-date newspaper and magazine database and receive friendly assistance from our experienced staff.
The One World Language School (OWLS) offers a large bandwidth of language courses for children, students and grown-ups, as well as a diversity of intercultural training programs.
Furthermore, since September 2007, the DAI runs a bilingual International Kindergarten, which enjoys a great popularity and offers space for 100 children of 20 nations at two branches.
The staff in the Study USA-Information Center of our library will be happy to counsel you about exchange programs to the USA, Canada, and other English-speaking countries. We focus especially on the interests of high school students (exchanges, language programs/trips), college students (undergraduate and graduate studies, financial aid) and young adults (internships, job search, university and college applications).
The stated goal of the DAI is to stimulate and support exchange and encounter between people and institutions here and in America and to promote academic engagement and debate with America.
The sponsoring organization of the German-American Institute is the Schurman-Gesellschaft e.V. (Schurman Association).
As you can see, we offer you a multitude of services and information. Please come visit us sometime – we look forward to seeing you!
