Environmental benefits

Packaging prevention

A 'zero packaging' policy for an event could bring an environmental benefit of 2.6tonnes CO2 if the packaging is produced from virgin material or 288kg CO2 if the packaging is produced from recycling.

Separate collection and recycling of materials

Separate waste collection during the course of an event could increase the waste collected and then recycled from 40% to 70% (an increase of 30%). For a total of 480kg of waste produced, the benefit in terms of reduced CO2 emissions amounts to 105.2kg.
