JPN Conference and Showcase 2024: Today and Tomorrow

Date and time:
13:00-23:00 Nov 4
10:00-23:00 Nov 5

Location
Bristol Beacon
Trenchard Street, Bristol BS1 5AR

Held at the newly refurbished Bristol Beacon (formerly Colston Hall), this year’s conference will be a chance to get together in person- with fellow promoters, labels, agents, managers and artists – to share experiences and enjoy hearing some of the most exciting new bands from across the UK in the two evening showcase programme in the beautiful LANTERN HALL.

With a conference title taken from the acclaimed American jazz musician McCoy Tyner’s album, TODAY AND TOMORROW- the 2024 JPN Conference focus is on the impact of grassroots culture in all aspects of UK and Irish jazz. Roundtables and panel discussions will explore music venue economy, grassroots education, music promotion and labels, and practical sessions will focus on social media, touring and artist business skills. 1:1 networking opportunities  throughout the conference will enable those all-important connections with others attending.

Keynote interview slots will feature leading artists, and Ivor Novello Award winning British-Bahraini trumpet player YAZZ AHMED will be interviewed by DJ, broadcaster and journalist TINA EDWARDS on Monday November 4, and will also give a short special guest performance as part of the evening programme. We are also thrilled that a second special guest will be saxophonist ANDY SHEPPARD, who has long term Bristol associations and will be making a special trip over from Portugal to perform the final slot of the evening of Tuesday November 5.

The showcase programme will feature some of the UK/Ireland’s most exciting new bands nominated by JPN members and other trusted partners and chosen by a 5-nation independent expert panel.
