moers festival Newsletter April 1st 2014 Dear friends and fans of the moers festival, here's this week's update from the festival office: Fringe programme out now! Survey: shuttle service and/or communal tent? Improviser in Residence dates |

Fringe programme out now! The fringe programme for this year's moers festival has now been officially revealed! As ever, the main programme will be complemented by a series of "morning sessions", "night sessions" and "concerts in the dark" to be held at various venues round Moers. The artists involved in the "morning sessions", some of whom are appearing in the main programme and some of whom are coming exclusively for these concerts, celebrate here what is at the heart of their respective musical worlds: improvisation - as pure as it gets and as exciting as you want it. Sat, Sun, Mon, 11 am, Musik Campus (Musikschule Moers), Filderstraße 126 This year's three "night sessions" are all about groove. Benny Greb's "Moving Parts" focus on recurring rhythmic sound sequences, while "Little fishermen - harbour pub beat up" explore the total freedom of collective improvisation using stylistic devices taken from funk and jazz. The "Hanno Busch Trio" combines elements of the classic guitar trio with form-busting improvisation. Fri, Sat, Sun, midnight, Röhre Moers, Weygoldstraße 10 The "concerts in the dark" see veterans of noise art such as Kevin Drumm and younger artists including Dale Cornish present their work in the pitch blackness of a "dark tent". There will be exclusive concerts by the duo Elodie (Andrew Chalk & Timo van Luijk), performing for the first time in Germany, sets featuring the composed guitar drones of the Italian Giuseppe Ielasi, and the chance to enjoy the fragile field recordings of Swedish musician BJ Nilsen. Sat + Sun., 5.30 - 8 pm, dark tent on the Musik Campus ( Musikschule Moers), Filderstraße 126 Admission to all the events is free! More information and some photos you find here: |

Survey: shuttle service and/or communal tent? We are planning to run a free bus service between Moers station and the new festival hall and are now wondering whether it would make sense to have another service running daily from the festival hall to Duisburg station - or on the Monday of the festival only? Busses run from Duisburg throughout the night to other towns in the Ruhr area. And another question: would anyone who still needs accommodation be interested in sleeping in a communal tent which we would put up and let you use for a small fee? Please send your feedback to: info@moers-festival.de |
