The Europe Jazz Network (EJN) is looking to appoint a part-time communication specialist on a freelance basis to develop & write feature articles, conduct interviews & publish their outcomes, and create social media posts on the activities of the EJN and its members, for dissemination through the EJN online communication channels.
The person needs to have an excellent command of the English language (written and spoken) and the ability to write fluently for online publications and social media. The person should also have a basic knowledge of the jazz and creative music sectors in Europe, such as main artists, festivals, venues, etc.
Details of the engagement:
- Appointment on a freelance basis (or any independent legal entity, also including companies, organisations, etc);
- Initial commitment of approximately 400 hours per year, to be distributed according to needs;
- Three months trial period prior to confirmation of a contract for one year, with the possibility to extend the contract beyond the year;
- Starting from the beginning of October 2022;
- Yearly fee available: Euro 12.000,00 (gross/tax included/all costs included).
Tasks:
- To develop & write feature articles and conduct interviews & publish their outcomes in English on key activities of EJN and its members, based on a timeline and target outcomes defined in conjunction with the EJN Staff (example of themes are the EJN awards, best practices on environmental sustainability, #womentothefore campaigns and EJN members’ profiles);
- To write, schedule & publish social media posts in English on the EJN channels on the basis of an agreed timeline with the EJN Staff, about EJN members’ and key EJN activities, in line with the EJN editorial style. Main EJN social media channels are: facebook, instagram (both managed through Meta business suite), twitter, linkedin;
- To write scripts for videos concerning EJN activities and texts to be used for EJN promotional materials, in English;
- All tasks should be carried out online, from remote.
Skills & competencies:
- Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken) - and specifically of the language used in the cultural/music field and the language used in social media;
- Proven track record of writing feature articles in English language in the cultural field and/or independently managing social media for cultural organisations/institutions;
- Basic knowledge on and experience in the European jazz and creative music sector, preferably at the international level;
- Basic knowledge of image editing for social media use;
- Basic skills in using a generic website CMS (such as wordpress, drupal, etc.).
