"It was very interesting to learn from each other and get insight into a foreign working culture. In Spain, although we do the same job, we have different ways of doing, and this is what I liked the most about this experience."
From: Jazz I AM / Taller de Musics Spain)
To: Bimhuis (Netherlands)
Dates: 19 - 26 June 2023
From the 19th to the 26th June I was working in Bimhuis mainly beside Luuk Goessens of the production department.
The first day of the exchange, Luuk introduced me the production and technician team and he showed me the venue, office, dressing rooms, back-line warehouse and the restaurant. Frank Van Verkel, Bimhuis programmer invited me in a production meeting to see how they work and it was really interesting to see the other side, as I am usually working from the perspective of an artist agency, and in this case, I had to change my mind to think as a venue.
The work done mostly is divided in two parts:
- Bimhuis production: Support to the Floor manager Receive the artists, prepare the dressing rooms Check and follow the schedules (soundcheck, get in, concert). Open and close the doors for the concerts
- Injazz festival: Production work for the inJazz Festival Set up all the conferences room (mics, projections, PA, chairs…) Support the Catalan delegation (ground transports, hotels,…) Prepare the Catalan Snack and Catalan Matchmaking. Mainly the production work is to guarantee that all the activities works correctly.
