September will be very important for us at Pannonica in Nantes because we will begin a special season, dedicated to our 30th anniversary.
So, several highlights will take place between September and June 2025. Several topics will be explored, as components of Pannonica’s (the place) DNA. First of all: Thelonious Monk, but also local creativity and the relationship we have with the city’s musicians. The season has also the goal to share every kind of jazz from full orchestra (we receive for 3 gigs of Grands Formats, the French and European federation of full orchestra) to solo or dj set, sitting and standing jazz!
The first highlight is the weekend of 28 and 29 September :
On Saturday:
Think Tank Monk : As Monk was one of the strangest and most unusual jazz musicians, a band of nine musicians gather to question the effect of his music on the jazz and improvised music audience.

On Sunday:
Piano yoga (a special session of Ashtanga Yoga and piano music)
A jam on the theme of “Thelonica” and the pieces dedicated to the Baroness
The movie Rewind & play realized by Alain Gomis, in 2023. It’s a montage film and video archive off the French TV show “Jazz portrait” who invited Thelonious Monk in 1969.
