O.N.E. - Green Pilot Tour
The Green Pilot Tour by Polish band O.N.E. was a meaningful and impactful journey, bringing their music to audiences in Ukraine. Despite the challenges of touring during such difficult times, the band successfully completed their four-concert tour and conducted workshops, sharing their music and energy with local audiences in a sustainable way.
Tour Schedule
- 27/04/2024: Lviv, Ukraine - Lviv Jazz Days (300 people + 40 at the workshops)
- 28/04/2024: Ternopil, Ukraine - Na Poshti Club (50 people)
- 29/04/2024: Kyiv, Ukraine - 32 Jazz Club (70 people, full house)
- 30/04/2024: Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine - Prompylad (60 people)
Sustainability in Practice
As Ukraine is a neighbouring country to Poland, the band opted to travel entirely by train, avoiding flights and significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the tour. Sustainable practices were embraced throughout the tour:
- Green Rider: Vegetarian meals were provided at every venue, minimising the environmental impact of catering.
- Equipment: Each venue supplied the backline, alleviating the need to transport heavy equipment. This was particularly valuable given the use of trains.
Workshop and Audience Impact
In Lviv, the band conducted workshops as part of the Lviv Jazz Days, attended by 40 students from the Music Academy. The workshops and concerts drew a variety of audience sizes, from intimate gatherings to full houses.
The response from audiences across all cities was profound. Many attendees expressed deep gratitude for the band's presence and performances, emphasising the power of music to bring hope and comfort, even amid the ongoing challenges of war. Post-concert conversations and time spent with locals were highlights for the band, fostering meaningful connections.
Communication and Promotion
The band actively documented the tour on social media, sharing graphic materials prepared in advance alongside audience reactions, photos, and videos from the concerts. Each city will also feature in dedicated Instagram reels, the first of which, from Lviv, is already online. These materials continue to be shared, further amplifying the tour’s impact.
Feedback and Reflections
The O.N.E. Green Pilot Tour was a powerful example of how music and sustainability can come together to create meaningful cultural exchanges, and highlighted the significant role of music in offering solace and connection.
Looking ahead, the band suggests expanding green touring initiatives to include panel discussions or debates with regional and local authorities working in sustainability. Integrating musical activities into broader green initiatives could strengthen the bond between artists and environmental stakeholders, encouraging audiences to adopt more sustainable habits.
The band returned home with a sense of having contributed something important not only to themselves but to the Ukrainian jazz community, reinforcing the potential for music to inspire and connect in challenging times.
