For me, EJNs exchange program was interesting, inspiring and educational. I got to hear lots of music, visit the Leeds Collage of Music, Ribble Valley Festival in Clitheroe, More Music in Morecombe and jazz clubs in Manchester and Leeds. Besides, I got an in-depth knowledge of Jazz Norths broadcasting week after working with Nigel Slee for a day in his office and half a day in the field.
Lucy Wolley set up my schedule and did an excellent job keeping me busy and taking care of me from my arrival to my departure. To Clitheroe I got a ride with Lesley Jackson, and it was fascinating to learn how many challenges we share, whether it is reaching new audiences, working with such a broad field of promoters, creating opportunities for the musicians in our regions and how to convince granting authorities that their money is well spent at our organisations.
Vestnorsk Jazzsenter and Jazz North already collaborate on one project, a concert-production for kids called Cinclus Cinclus. I`m sure we can benefit of collaborating on more. In this EJN plays an essential role. By broadening our scope of perspective and making it easier to get to know European colleagues and interesting projects.
I`ll like to thank EJN for this opportunity, to Lucy, Lesley and Nigel for your infectious enthusiasm and for taking so good care of me and to the lovely people at Leeds Collage of Music, Ribble Valley Festival and More Music Morecombe. I wish you all the best for the future of jazz to come and I hope to meet again soon.
